The monitoring network of the Federal Office for Radiation Protection monitors the natural radiation exposure with about 1,800 automatic measuring stations for the ambient dose rate. It is expressed microsievert per hour (μSv/h) and is measured by the installed ones with two Geiger-Müller counter tubes. The natural radioactivity fluctuates with the current weather conditions and is particularly influenced by rainfall.
